Our mission is to offer scientifically-informed programs based in Mindful Awareness and Social-Emotional Learning which provide children and adults with tools to manage stress and navigate life’s challenges.
Our vision is to expand educational standards in Arizona to include programming that supports and promotes positive mental health and well-being.
How It Started
Mindfulness First was formed in October of 2013 by our Founder Sunny Wight. After experiencing a stress-induced breakdown 4 years previously from which Sunny used mindfulness as a tool for recovery and transformation, she and her friend Kimberly Narde created Mindfulness First to bring mindfulness-based life-skills to schools in Arizona by providing instructional services, teacher training and classroom resources. They also provide services in business settings, which help to fund their work in education.
Mindfulness First has been a Fiscally Sponsored Project of the Technical Assistance Partnership of Arizona (TAPAZ) since May of 2014.
