Descriptions of Community Mindfulness Classes offered:

Introduction to Mindfulness:  Learn and experience more about mindfulness. Learn what you can expect from taking mindfulness classes, and the impact it can have on your life. Experience a short mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness Fundamentals for Adults (6 weeks):  Learning mindfulness skills can help relieve stress for adults. Learn simple techniques that nurture your own abilities to be in the present moment with strength. These lifelong skills will help bring a sense of calm to your life and your home.

The Present Mind Program for Professionals (8 weeks):  Mindfulness First is proud to present their signature 8-week program. Grounded in the clinically created and university studied practices of mindfulness, we aim to assist in bringing this into the workplace environment creating an enhanced culture that nurtures productive collaborations and relationships.

Mindfulness, Mommy & Me:  Join us for support and discussion as we visit the topic of mindfulness and families in an informal group setting. Questions will be answered about mindfulness as well as sharing resources. Children and Dads are also welcome in this group and mindfulness will be practiced together. If your kids are in school and you want to join the discussion, you are equally welcome. This safe setting will provide and opportunity for sharing and advice.

Mindfulness for Families (6 weeks):  Connect and learn the basics of mindfulness together as a family! Mindfulness is a practice that promotes positive social and emotional development in children by helping them become aware of their thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environment. Mindfulness even helps parents manage the stress of parenting and can improve child-parent relationships. Both children and their parents will learn how to strengthen their ability to regulate their emotions and experience mental calm, attention, and awareness. All exercises and activities support a greater family connection. Class taught by Stephanie Cordel from Growing Mindfully. (Parent participation required)

Vision Board Workshop:  Mindfulness First invites you to join us for a fun-filled, relaxing and empowering afternoon of visualization and creation. In this workshop you will explore what you would like to attract in various areas of your life. You will create a vision board symbolizing those desires. Whether you are seeking to create a state of physical health, better relationships, a new career, a new living space or to simply get a clear sense of direction in the upcoming year, this workshop will hold a space of intention for you to bring your visions into reality.

Mindfulness for Educators: Cultivating Personal & Professional Well-Being (6 weeks):  This six-week session on mindfulness and education is for anyone working in an educational setting who would like to learn basic skis for coping with stress and practices for promoting self-awareness, presence and compassion. Drawing upon research from the fields of neuroscience, positive psychology and education, participants will be guided through a series of practices they can use both personally and professionally.

Mindful Art Workshop: Mindful Painting:  In this one-day workshop you will have the opportunity to experience letting go of control, fear and feel emotional connection to the brain and how that shapes response. Working within a small group of people, you will be exposed to applying paint on canvas, interaction with relationship of community, and facilitated by professional artists who also are mindful practitioners as well as teachers.

Mindful Parenting for ADHD:  If you are a parent of a child with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), you probably face many unique daily challenges. Kids with ADHD are often inattentive hyperactive, and impulsive, since ADHD affects all of self-management and self-regulation. As a result, you might become chronically frustrated or stressed out, which makes caring for ADHD that much harder. Mindfulness First presents a proven-effective program for helping both you and your child with ADHD stay cool and collected while remaining flexible, resilient, and mindful.

Mindful Poetry:  Poetry doesn’t have to be boring or feel pressuring. Come and experience a freeing and mindful poetry writing session that will explore both free verse poetry and structured poetry – including haiku, cinquain, diamante, onomatopoeia, and others. Enjoy yourself, smile, and experience the poetry inside you!

Letter Writing from a Mindful Perspective:  Attend a mindful letter writing class that will allow you to focus on what is in your heart, how to express it and how to write it to another person. Connect with yourself, share with another, relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy writing without judgment! Just be in the moment and express yourself!

Mindfulness Through Self-Portraiture:  We will study mindfulness fundamentals together while creating “self-portraits” to reflect our introspective work and help us heal and grow through mindfulness and creativity. So for this introductory class, we will work together to create an image that represents the present moment for you and how you feel a journey into mindfulness could support your life.

Mindful Kids After School Program:  In our afterschool program we invite your joyful little one’s to come join us for an afternoon of mindful movement, followed by an Exciting art project each class including: Fun with clay; Collage using natural and recycled materials; colorful mandala making, and; duct tape art!!

Summer Kids Camp:  Your child will enjoy a fun filled, mindful week of exciting and unique projects, activities and games.

Mindfulness and Movement for Stress Relief:  Experience deep breathing, stretching, tapping, and brain wave vibration…Be transformed!  Create new energy, get rid of stagnant energy, have fun, meet new people, and improve your health, joyfully.  Hot tea following class and a time for sharing.
