An Update On Mindfulness First

May 27th, 2026

With deep gratitude and reflection, the Board of Directors of Mindfulness First has made the difficult decision to formally dissolve the organization.

Since our founding, Mindfulness First has been grounded in a simple but powerful belief: that children and adults deserve practical tools and knowledge to support lifelong mental health and wellbeing. What began in 2011 through the shared vision and lived experiences of Co-Founders Kimberly Narde and Sunny Wight grew into a mission-driven organization committed to creating healthier, safer, and more connected communities.

Over the years, together with our partners, supporters, educators, advocates, volunteers, funders, and community members, we have worked to advance equitable access to mindfulness, emotional wellbeing, and trauma-informed practices. We are incredibly proud of the lives touched, the conversations started, the partnerships formed, and the awareness built around the importance of mental and emotional wellbeing.

This decision was not made lightly. Like many nonprofit organizations, Mindfulness First has faced increasing challenges related to long-term sustainability, operational capacity, and securing the consistent resources necessary to continue fulfilling our mission at the level our community deserves. After thoughtful consideration and careful evaluation of the organization’s future viability, the Board determined that dissolution is the most responsible path forward.

While this chapter is coming to a close, the values that guided Mindfulness First remain deeply important and urgently needed. We continue to believe in a future where all people have access to tools that support self-efficacy, resilience, connection, and mental wellbeing. We hope the seeds planted through this work will continue to grow through the efforts of educators, community leaders, advocates, and organizations who share this vision.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to every individual and organization that walked alongside us throughout this journey. Your belief in the mission made this work possible. Whether you contributed your time, expertise, funding, partnership, encouragement, or participation, you helped create meaningful impact in the lives of others and strengthened our broader community.

To our founders, staff, volunteers, board members, community partners, and supporters: thank you for your compassion, courage, and commitment over the years. It has been an honor to serve alongside you.

As we move through the dissolution process, we will work to ensure all legal and organizational responsibilities are handled thoughtfully and responsibly in accordance with nonprofit regulations and our organizational values.

With sincere gratitude,

Tony Williams, Board Chair Mindfulness First
